The Big Acorns Canberra

THE BIG...

ACORNS

LOCATION: Canberra (ACT)

We discovered these fabulous giant acorns up a hill at the National Arboretum in Canberra. At just a few kilometres from the centre of the city, these are well worth the trip — as are the sensational views from Canberra's frosty heights.

(And yes, of course the professors climbed through these — and then slid down the slippery dip!)

THE BIG...

APPLE 🍎

LOCATION: Tallong (NSW)

The the Big (fibreglass) Apple of Tallong was commissioned by orchardist Jim Watling and crafted by local artist Carl Zeschke. It was originally hung on the front of Jim's shed in Tallong, where it became a symbol of the areas apple-centric history. Jim himself was known as the "apple man".

Around 30 years later, the apple was restored and now proudly hangs in a purpose built park that celebrates both Jim Watling, as well as the apple's creator.

We think it looks delicious!

AVOCADO #1 🥑

LOCATION: Mildura (VIC)

This devilishly grinning 'avo was discovered at "Orange World" — a tourist spot just outside of Mildura in NSW.

At roughly the same size as an adult human, this guy isn't as massive as some of the BIG THINGS on our list — however, as far as real avocados go, it's still pretty sizeable!

AVOCADO #2 🥑

LOCATION: Durunbah (NSW)

If you're looking for the Big Avocado in Durunbah, then this handy sign will point you in the right direction — complete with its very own (quite) Big Avocado!

AVOCADO #3 🥑

LOCATION: Durunbah (NSW)

This Big Avocado is the pride and joy of Tropical Fruit World... a veritable wornderland of fabulous fruits.

There are tours, and tastings, and workshops — all of which are waaay more appealing than this lumpy monstrosity! Although, to be fair, avocados aren't exactly the most beautiful of fruits. So...
