THE BIG...

OLD MOTHER HUBBARD'S SHOE 👞

LOCATION: Mackay (QLD)

Old Mother Hubbard's Show is one of FOUR concrete monuments to be found in Old Mulherin Park (Mackay).

We don't know much about these sculptures, other than that they have all been around since at least the early '80s (and that they are beloved by locals).

OLIVE

THE BIG...

OLIVE 🫒

LOCATION: Tailem Bend (SA)

The Big Olive(s) can be found on the outskirts of Tailem Bend.

The structure was built to attract tourists to an outlet store. However, this store is now permanently closed. The Big Olive did still attract us though — of course. It can be easily spotted from the nearby highway — and you can still drive up nice and close for a photo (or three!).

THE BIG...

ORANGE #1 🍊

LOCATION: Mildura (NSW)

It seems that oranges are something that Aussies like to build BIG.

This was our first discovery... at "The Orange Spot" — a store that has long since shut its doors.

ORANGE #2

LOCATION: Mildura (NSW)

#TeamALPHABET made their second Big Orange discovery shortly after our first — and also in Mildura!

This grinning fella is the pride and joy of Orange World — a 50 acre citrus property, where you can take an orchard tour and buy citrus products.

A Big Lemon and Big Avocado also feature at this property!

OWL 🦉

LOCATION: Canberra (ACT)

Not just a Big Owl, this artwork was devised as a Big Powerful Owl — as a guardian spirit overmatching its location.

The giant sculpture was created by Bruce Armstrong. A sibling sculpture — a Big Eagle — is perched in Melbourne's docklands (we'll need to get a photo of that at some point!).

OYSTER 🦪

LOCATION: Taree (NSW)

This was the very first BIG THING #TeamALPHABET spotted as we began our epic national tour in early 2022.

In other words, this giant bivalve is thing that is responsible for our teams' obsessive search to discover as many BIG THINGS across Australia as we possibly can!

This is our muse! Ain't it a beauty?

This Giant Oyster was once a popular restaurant... but is now the 'crowning glory' of a car dealership.
